Visual Communications

FSC’s Visual Communications department prepares students for careers in graphic design, advertising, and interaction design through a varied curriculum of technique, theory, and history courses.

As part of the Office of Distance Learning’s graphic design team, I was tasked with designing a Brightspace template for the department’s asynchronous, or online, courses. My work included designing banners, PowerPoint slide templates, and creating an overarching aesthetic for the department.

As a student in the Visual Communications department, I was excited to design the template. Using red as the primary color allowed the design to be eye-catching, especially against the blue, green, and yellow accents. For the design elements, I recreated the pen tool guides used often in Adobe programs and juxtaposed them against 3-dimensional shapes.
