Architecture & Construction Management
Farmingdale State College’s Architecture & Construction Management department prepares students for careers in architectural design, planning, and management through rigorous, hands-on undergraduate programs that combine technical knowledge with practical application.
As part of the Office of Distance Learning’s graphic design team, I was tasked with designing a Brightspace template for the department’s asynchronous, or online, courses. My work included designing banners, PowerPoint slide templates, and creating an overarching aesthetic for the department.
Regarding the design, I chose a neutral orange, similar to the color you’d find on a Dewalt battery or bobcat. This color is used throughout the template, in addition to a “rebar motif” created by thin rectangles and white space over some images. While placed in the course, this recurring element made the template feel as if it was under construction, with the aforementioned white space connecting to the white background of the Brightspace page seamlessly.
